About Ingrowing Toenail

This is a common condition where a piece of the nail is growing into the skin, causing pain, swelling and sometimes infection.

Causes:

  • Incorrect nail cutting.

  • Trauma.

  • Nails shape.

  • Footwear.

The Podiatrist may be able to remove the offending portion of nail by cutting down the side of the nail (nail resection).

Nail surgery is available if conservative treatments are not working. This involves a partial (Small portion) or a total nail removal under local anaesthetic, with or without a chemical called phenol which will prevent any future growth.

Nail surgery package of care starts at: £300 (depending on number of nails being treated) and includes a follow up re dressing appointment
